Itämeren vuosittainen leväkooste (Aqua MODIS) 2012–2016 / Yearly algae composites of the Baltic Sea (Aqua MODIS) 2012–2016

[FI] Vuosittainen Itämeren avomerialueen pintaleväkooste yhdistetään kesäkauden päivittäisistä havainnoista. Tämä kuvaus kattaa vuodet 2012–2016. Pintalevälautoista tehdään neliluokkainen tulkintakartta, joka kuvaa pintalevän esiintymistodennäköisyyttä tietyllä alueella. Kartan luokat ovat 1) ei pintalevää, 2) mahdollista, 3) todennäköistä sekä 4) varmaa pintalevää. Vuosittainen kooste kokoaa yhteen Itämeren pääaltaan, Selkämeren ja Suomenlahden pintalevähavainnot kesä-elokuun ajalta. Kooste kuvaa suurinta havaittua levän määrää kesä-elokuun aikana kullakin alueella. Aineiston maastoerotuskyky on 750 m.

Pintalevähavainnot on luokiteltu a-klorofyllipitoisuuden perusteella. A-klorofylli on laskettu Aqua-satelliitin MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) instrumentin havainnoista käyttäen avoimesti saatavilla olevaa Seadas l2gen-ohjelmaa.

Aineiston käyttötarkoitus: Itämeren vedenlaadun seuranta, levätiedostus.

Aineisto kuuluu SYKEn avoimiin aineistoihin (CC BY 4.0).

[EN] The material is a combination of all surface floating algae bloom observations in the summerly cyanobacteria bloom period. The material covers Baltic Sea offshore areas. Surface algae bloom material is produced using a four-class interpretation map that describes the probability of the occurrence of surface algae blooms. Algae classes are: 1) no, 2) potential, 3) likely and 4) evident surface algae. Annual composites describe the extent of surface algae blooms during June-August. The spatial resolution of the composites is 750 m.

Surface algal observations are based on the amount of chlorophyll-a. Chlorophyll-a has been calculated with Seadas l2gen program using Aqua MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) satellite data.

Purpose of use: Monitoring of water quality in the Baltic Sea, algal watch.
