Detta \u00e4r s\u00e4rskilt viktigt att beakta ifall geografiska data anv\u00e4nds f\u00f6r planerings\u00e4ndam\u00e5l.\n\n***\n\nLocal ecologically significant marine underwater areas (PEMMA)\n\nThe Local ecologically significant marine underwater nature areas (PEMMA) spatial dataset presents areas with ecologically significant underwater features identified from the Finnish capital region (Helsinki-Espoo). The PEMMA process is a more localized, smaller-scale application of the previous EMMA work (http://hdl.handle.net/10138/312221), which in turn is a national application of the global-scale EBSA process. \n\nIn 2026, a corresponding PEMMA assessment was conducted for the Archipelago Sea using the same methodology. PEMMA-ty\u00f6 on toteutettu Velmun alaisuudessa. \n\nAluerajaukset perustuvat p\u00e4\u00e4osin Velmun ker\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n kartoitustietoon (sukellukset, videoinnit ja pohjael\u00e4inn\u00e4ytteenotot) vuosilta 2004-2022, Velmussa tehtyihin lajien ja vedenalaisten luontotyyppien levinneisyysmalleihin, ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6muuttuja-aineistoihin (ml. syvyys, suolapitoisuus), uhanalaisten lajien esiintym\u00e4t (LajiGIS), pohjael\u00e4inhavaintoihin POHJE-tietokannasta, GTK:n merigeologisiin aineostoihin (ml. EMODnet Geology), Zonation-analyyseihin (Virtanen ym. 2018, 2022) ja muihin julkaisuihin, jotka kuvaavat alueen merkityst\u00e4 lajiryhmille.\n\nPEMMAksi voidaan tunnistaa alue, joka t\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n yhden seuraavista kriteereist\u00e4: ainutlaatuisuus, harvinaisuus tai huomattava edustavuus; erityinen t\u00e4rkeys lajin elinkierrossa; t\u00e4rkeys uhanalaiselle tai taantuvalle lajille tai luontotyypille; herkkyys tai hidas palautumiskyky; biologinen monimuotoisuus tai luonnontilaisuus.\n\nPEMMA-kuvauksia on tehty vain alueista, joilta on saatavilla riitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti tietoa. Kaikkia tarkasteltavana olevia alueita verrattiin toisiinsa ja niihin sovellettiin systemaattisesti samoja kriteerien tulkintoja. Aineiston kent\u00e4t ovat Alue (PEMMA-alueen nimi), Maakunta (maakunta, johon PEMMA-alue sijoittuu),Aluekoodi (PEMMA-alueen uniikki tunniste), Avainsanat (avainsanat kuvaavat alueen valintaperusteita) ja Lomake (linkki aluekuvauslomakkeeseen).\n\nPEMMA-paikkatietoaineiston laadintaan ja sen tausta-aineistojen keruuseen osallistuivat ensisijaisesti Suomen ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6keskus, Mets\u00e4hallitus, ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6ministeri\u00f6, Geologian tutkimuskeskus, Luonnonvarakeskus sek\u00e4 Uudenmaan elinkeino-, liikenne- ja ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6keskus (ELY-keskus). Ty\u00f6st\u00f6vaiheen ty\u00f6pajoihin osallistui Velmu-ohjelman asiantuntijoita, Uudenmaan ELY-keskuksen asiantuntijoita sek\u00e4 Helsingin ja Espoon kaupunkien meriluontoasiantuntijoita ja aluesuunnittelijoita.\n\n***\n\nPEMMA-datam\u00e4ngden inneh\u00e5ller 22 omr\u00e5den som beskriver lokalt betydelsefulla marina undervattensnaturomr\u00e5den i Helsingfors samt Esbos havsomr\u00e5den. PEMMA-datam\u00e4ngden har producerats under Velmu.\n\nOmr\u00e5desavgr\u00e4nsningarna baseras huvudsakligen p\u00e5 karteringsdata som samlats inom Velmu (dykning, videoinspelning och bottenfaunaprovtagning) mellan \u00e5ren 2004-2022, art- samt habitatutbredningsmodeller producerade under Velmu, milj\u00f6variabeldata (inkl. djup, salthalt), f\u00f6rekomster av hotade arter (LajiGIS), bottenfaunaobservationer fr\u00e5n POHJE-databasen, Geologiska forskningscentralens maringeologiska data (inkl. EMODnet Geology), Zonation-analyser (Virtanen m.fl. 2018, 2022) samt andra publikationer som beskriver omr\u00e5dets betydelse f\u00f6r artgrupper.\n\nEtt omr\u00e5de kunde klassas som PEMMA d\u00e5 det uppfyllde minst ett av f\u00f6ljande kriterier: unika omr\u00e5den, livshistoriskt viktiga omr\u00e5den, omr\u00e5de f\u00f6r hotade arter, omr\u00e5den som \u00e4r s\u00e4rskilt s\u00e5rbara, biologisk m\u00e5ngfald eller naturlighet.\n\nPEMMA-beskrivningar har endast gjorts f\u00f6r omr\u00e5den fr\u00e5n vilka tillr\u00e4ckligt med information existerar. Alla omr\u00e5den som granskades j\u00e4mf\u00f6rdes med varandra och samma tolkningar av kriterierna till\u00e4mpades systematiskt p\u00e5 dem. Dataf\u00e4lten \u00e4r Alue (=Omr\u00e5de, namn p\u00e5 PEMMA-omr\u00e5det), Maakunta (=Landskap, landskapet d\u00e4r PEMMA-omr\u00e5det finns), Aluekoodi (=Omr\u00e5deskod, unikt ID f\u00f6r PEMMA-omr\u00e5det), Avainsanat (=Nyckelord, beskriver urvalskriterierna f\u00f6r omr\u00e5det) och Lomake (=Formul\u00e4r, hyperl\u00e4nk till omr\u00e5desbeskrivningsformul\u00e4ret).\n\nFinlands milj\u00f6central Syke, Forststyrelsen, milj\u00f6ministeriet, Geologiska forskningscentralen GTK, Naturresursinstitutet Luke och Nylands n\u00e4rings-, trafik- och milj\u00f6central (NTM-central) deltog i f\u00f6rsta hand i utarbetandet av PEMMA:s rumsliga data och insamlingen av dess bakgrundsdata. I arbetsfasens workshoppar deltog experter fr\u00e5n Velmu-programmet, experter fr\u00e5n Nylands NTM-central samt havsnaturexperter och omr\u00e5desplanerare fr\u00e5n Helsingfors och Esbos st\u00e4der.\n\n***\n\nThe PEMMA spatial data contains 22 areas describing locally significant underwater marine nature areas in the sea areas of Helsinki and Espoo. The PEMMA data was produced under the Velmu project.\n\nThe area delineations are mainly based on mapping data collected by Velmu (diving, video recording and benthic sampling) during the years 2004-2022, distribution models of underwater species and habitat types produced in Velmu, environmental variable data (incl. depth, salinity), occurrences of endangered species (LajiGIS), benthic observations from the POHJE database, marine geological data of the Geological survey of Finland (incl. EMODnet Geology), Zonation analyses (Virtanen et al. 2018, 2022), and other publications describing the importance of the area for species groups.\n\nAn area could acquire the PEMMA status if it fulfilled at least one of the following criteria: uniqueness or rarity; special importance for life history stages of species; importance for threatened, endangered or declining species and/or habitats; vulnerability, fragility, sensitivity, or slow recovery; biological diversity or naturalness.\n\nPEMMA descriptions have only been made for areas from which sufficient information is available. All areas considered during the working process were compared to one another, and the same interpretations of the criteria were systematically applied to them. The data fields are Alue (=Area, name of the PEMMA area), Maakunta (=Region, the region where the PEMMA area is located), Aluekoodi (Area code, unique identifier of the PEMMA area), Avainsanat (=Keywords, reflects the selection criteria of the area) and Lomake (=Form, hyperlink to the area description form).\n\nThe Finnish Environment Institute Syke, Mets\u00e4hallitus, Ministry of the Environment, Geological Survey of Finland (GTK), Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) and the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of Uusimaa (ELY centre) primarily participated in the preparation of the PEMMA spatial data and the collection of its background data.
